Christmas Markets Across Finland: From Helsinki to Rovaniemi
December in Finland comes alive with Christmas markets from Helsinki in the south to Rovaniemi in the north.
While Helsinki’s Christmas Market is the largest and has gained global attention, other cities and towns host their own charming markets filled with local crafts, festive treats, and seasonal cheer.
Here’s a guide to some of Finland’s most notable Christmas markets.
A note on dates: Finnish Christmas markets confirm their exact dates each autumn. The typical timings below hold from year to year, and we update this guide every November once the new dates are announced. Last reviewed: July 2026.
1. Helsinki Christmas Market

Helsinki’s Christmas Market at Senate Square is the one to plan around.
In 2024, it was recognized as the fifth most Googled Christmas market in the world, according to a study by a British travel insurance company, and appeared on CNN’s list of the world’s best Christmas markets!
The market features over 100 vendors selling Finnish crafts, gifts, and festive foods. The food courts offer holiday flavors, and the nostalgic carousel adds a touch of charm.
Open from late November until just before Christmas, around December 22.
